Xiaomi continues to make progress in the field of wireless charging. This Monday, the group unveils a new 80W charger capable of recharging, by induction, 4000mAh in just 19 minutes.
After the 40W wireless charger in March, and 50W in August (introduced in particular with the Mi 10 Ultra), Xiaomi is now relying on 80W with a record charging time. Called the 80W Mi Wireless Charging, this new technology is capable of inductively recharging a 4000 mAh battery “to 10% in 1 minute, 50% in 8 minutes and 100% in just 19 minutes,” Xiaomi claims.
A giant leap, according to the brand, which recalls that their 30W wireless-charging (launched last year) required around 25 minutes to recharge a battery of similar capacity to 50%, and 69 minutes to reach 100%.
XIAOMI’S THIRD REVOLUTION IN WIRELESS CHARGING… IN JUST ONE YEAR
This new 80W charging represents Xiaomi’s third revolution in the field of wireless charging, all this in the year 2020 alone. The Chinese company continues to beat its own records in this field.
XDADevelopers points out, however, that it is unclear whether this 80W wireless charging is ready for mass production. The fact that Xiaomi already offers support for 50W wireless charging on the Mi 10 Ultra (in addition to 120W wired charging) is nevertheless a clue. The 80W wireless could be part of a future smartphone. It remains to be seen whether this increase in power will not ultimately have a negative impact on the longevity of the batteries.
