Vivo and Zeiss Announce Major Smartphone Photography Partnership

Vivo could strike very hard for its next smartphone in the field of photography. The Chinese brand has announced a partnership with Zeiss, the German optical giant. The first joint product will be presented on December 17th, and all eyes are obviously on the Vivo X60.

In its latest models, Vivo has been focusing on photography, especially with its recent X51. However, the Chinese brand could go even further with its X60 range as it has announced the partnership with the German optical giant, Zeiss.

It was on Instagram that the brand teased the deal. it thus indicates that it will be announcing something exciting for the public in a few days, more particularly on December 17th. Obviously, the number one candidate is the Vivo X60, which would rely even more on the camera than its predecessor. The visual accompanying the publication leaves in any case very little doubt about the nature of this agreement, so it will surely concern smartphones.

The Vivo X51, which was launched recently, relies heavily on the camera and has seduced many users with its gimbal stabilizer and high-quality sensor. By signing a partnership with Zeiss, Vivo wants to go even further and shows its ambition in the field. In some ways, this deal is reminiscent of the one between Huawei and Leica, the Chinese firm also relying heavily on this aspect.

As many reports indicate, Zeiss is already a partner of HMD Global and works in particular on Nokia branded smartphones. However, It is not known if this one will still be valid or if Vivo has signed an exclusive partnership.

According to a popular leakster on Weibo, The next X60 would offer a 48MP main camera with an f/1.6 aperture alongside a 13MP ultra-wide module and 13MP portrait shooter. The X60 Pro adds an 8MP periscope module with 5x optical zoom and digital zoom up to 60x. The Pro model also gets an aperture of f/1.48 for the 48MP main sensor. Both models will feature Vivo’s second-generation micro-gimbal stabilization and Zeiss branding.
