Apple Watch Series 5, SE devices stuck in Power Reserve qualify for free repair

If you’re one of the Apple Watch owners whose smartwatches won’t charge after it enters Power Reserve mode, Apple provides free repair for you.

In a support page update shared today, Apple reports that a “small number” of Apple Watch 5 and SE models running on watchOS 7.2 or 7.3 won’t charge after entering into Power Reserve.

This mode allows the Apple Watch to run even when it is low on battery. It disables most features, and you’ll need to press the side button to see the time.

If you run into this issue, Apple suggests placing your Apple Watch on your regular charger and leaving it to charge for at least 30 minutes.

If that doesn’t work, get in touch with the company to set up a free mail-in repair. Apple will examine your wearable before it services it to make sure it qualifies for the free repair.

To check what version of watchOS you’re using, head to the Watch app on your iPhone or the Settings app on your Apple Watch. Tap General > About and then look for the version number there.

If you have a Series 5 or SE watch, Apple recommends updating your Apple Watch to watchOS 7.3.1.

It’s also a good practice to update your Apple Watch and other devices regularly to fix any bugs and improve their security.
