OPPO has just lifted the veil off its newest flagship—the Find X3 Pro. Coming from the Find X2 Pro, you can expect a new look, display, cameras, and more. What did OPPO think was the best for its 2021 flagship? You can find out below.
Looks out of this world
If you place the Find X2 Pro and Find X3 Pro side by side and display up, it might be tough to tell the phones apart. But there will be no mistaking the Find X3’s distinctive glass back. It has a futuristic look to it, with a single piece of glass flowing through the entire rear of the device.
That glass glides upwards to what might be a divisive camera design. The lens placement makes it look a bit anthropomorphic for us, which seems intentional. Even in one of OPPO’s promo videos for the phone, you see it pan from the camera module to a woman’s face.
Love it or hate it, those cameras have the potential to be quite useful for smartphone photographers and videographers. But we’ll discuss that later.
The Find X3 Pro is a slim device, measuring 8.26mm deep and weighing 193g. It is also certified IP68 for water and dust resistance.
This flagship comes in blue with a new anti-glare, matte finish, and a glossy black with a ceramic-like finish. Either option gives a premium feel to the phone.
The ‘True Billion Color Display’
OPPO has been teasing this “Billion Color Journey” at the start of the year. It now realizes that statement with the Find X3 Pro’s 6.7-inch true Billion Color QHD+ (3,216 x 1,440) OLED display. It comes equipped with OPPO’s Full-path 10-bit Color Management System, promising “breathtaking visuals.”
If we’re talking specs, the Find X3 Pro also has 525ppi pixel density, 1,300nits peak brightness, staggeringly broad 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, HDR10+ content support, a color accuracy rating of 0.4 JNCD, and not to mention A+ DisplayMate certification. Plus, with its LTPO OLED panel, it offers a 5 ∼ 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.
In layperson’s speak, it’s going to be a beautiful, crisp, and buttery smooth screen.
To help those with color vision deficiency, OPPO introduces a more comprehensive version of the Munsell 100 Hue Test as part of ColorOS 11.2. It produces one of 765 potential screen calibrations to optimally color-correct the screen for every Find X3 Pro user.
New lenses, who dis?
OPPO says it’s taken cues from pro photographers who swap out lenses instead of camera sensors. This means that you’ll get the same photo quality from what the company says is the two “most-used” lenses—wide and ultra-wide.
Both sport a co-engineered Sony IMX766 50-megapixel lens, with the same 1/1.56″ sensor size with different apertures (f/1.8 aperture for the wide and f/2.2 aperture for the ultra-wide). OPPO also arms the Find X3 Pro with a 13-megapixel telephoto sensor with 5x hybrid zoom and 20x digital zoom, a 3-megapixel microlens with 60x magnification, and a 32-megapixel selfie camera. The cameras also offer both OIS and EIS.
With the Billion Color 4K 10-bit video recording and log capture, mobile filmmakers can possibly get a lot out of the Find X3 Pro. Casual users can expect to get steady, rich, and striking footage readily shareable on your socials.
All the best
As with other 2021 flagships, the Find X3 Pro runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, Adreno 660 GPU, and ColorOS 11.2 based on Android 11. It comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage. It supports Dual Mode 5G for more reliable speed in more places and Dual 5G SIM cards.
Unfortunately, there’s no headphone jack here (but you do get USB-C earphones in the box). But that’s not exactly surprising. The Find X3 Pro does offer Dolby Atmos-powered stereo speakers with Ambient Sound Detection. It promises to give you a theater-like experience in your hands.
The Find X3 Pro gets a slightly bigger 4,500mAh battery. But what you might want to hear is there’s finally wireless charging here via AirVOOC tech with up to 30W support. This flagship also gets SuperVOOC 2.0 flash charging which promises 40% in just 10 minutes thanks to 65W support. And yes, it has 10W reverse wireless charging, too. OPPO also includes a TÜV Rheinland Certified Safe Fast-Charge System so you can safely recharge this phone.
If getting exclusive ringtones and notification alerts are your thing, OPPO even partnered with award-winning film score composer and producer Hans Zimmer to give the Find X3 Pro and your life a cinematic soundtrack.
How much is the Find X3 Pro?
The OPPO Find X3 Pro will cost EUR 1,149 (about PHP 66,580), and it will start shipping in some markets starting March 30. We will update you about local availability.
