FIRST LOOK: Huawei FreeBuds 4i TWS earbuds

Huawei has a new pair of affordable yet capable earbuds that mixes both style and functionality quite seamlessly. We welcome the FreeBuds 4i.

The FreeBuds 4i are classy wireless earbuds that are designed to be comfortable for more prolonged use. The buds adopted this long-stem design with a fit that sits in the ear canal to avoid strain. They fit snuggly to help keep sound in and the environmental noise out.

Injecting a bit of fun, you can customize the FreeBuds 4i a bit. Huawei partnered with Momax to introduce some cute silicone cases.

For Huawei or other EMUI devices (like those from Honor), the FreeBuds 4i offers quick connect. Your device needs to run EMUI 10.0 to get this feature. But if you have it, then you simply need to open the case. A pop-up window shows up where you can complete the pairing process. Suppose you have other Android or iOS devices, the standard pairing through the Bluetooth settings works. Or you can download the Huawei AI Life app and connect through there.

There is a pairing button on the side of the case you can access to initiate the process, or you can just open the case with the buds still in it.

Inside the earbuds are 10mm large dynamic drivers promising crystal clear sound to allow for balanced sound. The FreeBuds 4i are tuned to handle pop music particularly well.

To immerse yourself in your music, Huawei arms these buds with active noise cancellation, which gives more value to these affordable audio accessories. If you need to hear what’s going on around you, Huawei brings its Awareness Mode to the FreeBuds 4i, allowing sound in even as you keep them on.

The FreeBuds 4i come with touch controls to let you play or pause your favorite tracks, call up your voice assistant, and switch between ANC and Awareness modes. You can customize the touch commands via the Huawei AI Life app.

A single charge promises 10 hours of continuous playback. And if you need to top up quickly, a 10-minute charge gives you up to four hours of use. The case has an indicator light you can check while charging the earbuds or whether the case itself has enough battery. You can recharge the case via USB-C. You get a cable with the FreeBuds 4i.

If you’re curious about what the FreeBuds 4i earbuds come with, these accessories are included in the box.
