What you need to know about the POCO M3 Pro 5G

POCO brings 5G to the M3 series with this newest launch. It’s the first POCO device to carry the MediaTek 700 5G chipset, promising flagship-grade performance at a more wallet-friendly price.

But what else can POCO users expect from this new handset?

Future-ready chipset

We already touched on this in the introduction, but the POCO M3 Pro 5G can take advantage of fast 5G networks thanks to the processor’s integrated 5G modem. It supports dual 5G SIM/standby, which means you can always stay connected to an available 5G network.

Aside from offering you fast connectivity, the Dimensity 700 promises better performance capable of handling graphics-heavy games, videos, and more.

The POCO M3 Pro 5G comes in two configurations: 4GB RAM + 64GB of storage and 6GB + 128GB. And both run on MIUI 12 for POCO based on Android 11.

Like the POCO M2 Pro, this device comes with a 5,000mAh battery. It’s not as much as the POCO M3‘s 6,000mAh one, though. But it’s still on the large battery capacity side, with support for 18W fast-charging. POCO will also be supplying you with a 22.5W in-box charger.

Speedy scrolling and playing

The POCO M3 Pro 5G’s comes with a 6.5-inch FHD+ 90Hz adaptive display. That means this handset will automatically switch between 90Hz, 60Hz, 50Hz, and even 30Hz, depending on what kind of task you’re doing. Switching between these refresh rates will allow you to save power while also giving you smooth scrolling and performance when you need it. According to POCO, the 30Hz refresh rate will arrive via an update.

The POCO M3 Pro 5G will get an updated Reading Mode 3.0 to help reduce eye strain. With new dual ambient sensors on the front and back, you get 360-degree light detection, so this phone will automatically adjust brightness depending on your surroundings.

Refreshed design

The POCO M3 Pro 5G gets an ergonomic 3D curved-back design with a glossy finish. The design is meant to feel comfortable to hold in your hand. Paired with a 91% screen-to-body ratio, it’s supposed to give off a more premium look and feel.

It comes with a different camera module design compared with the POCO M3. But it still comes in distinctive colors: POCO Yellow and Cool Blue and a more serious Power Black.

Shoot to your heart’s content

The POCO M3 Pro 5G offers an all-around camera experience with its triple camera array on the back and a selfie shooter in the punch-hole in front. Similar to the POCO M3, the rear cameras include a 48-megapixel primary sensor and two other 2-megapixel sensors for macro photography and depth management. We would’ve wanted an ultra-wide or telephoto sensor, though. But given its price point, we aren’t that disappointed by this. In front, it also has an 8-megapixel camera.

Some of the camera modes and features you’ll get include Night mode, Time-lapse, Timed burst, Movie frame, and Slow-motion.
