If you’re like me who spends countless hours on Spotify, finding new features is always a treat. It’s even better if it means I discover more artists to follow. And that’s what I’m getting with one of its newer features. Called Spotify Blend, it merges my musical taste with someone else to create a curated playlist that blends our preferences. It’s available whether you’re a Free or Premium plan on Spotify.
In my case, I have a few friends whose musical taste I love that I knew I wanted to try it out with them. While it’s currently in beta, I haven’t had trouble using it so far. It updates daily, so it evolves alongside our listening habits, giving me and my friend more opportunities to discover more music.
Here’s what you need to do to get your Blend playlists:
- Head to the Search section on mobile and navigate to the Only You/Made for you tab. It’s currently only available on mobile.
- Scroll down to locate the Made for two/Made for us section, where you can select the Create a Blend option.
- You’ll get a prompt to Invite a friend. It’ll take you to your phone’s Share menu, where you can send the invitation to them. You can send them the link in the messaging app of your choice.
- Once they accept your invite, Spotify will create your custom tracklist with the songs you love and recommendations that combine your tastes. You can even see which friend influenced the track choice as your icon or theirs (or both of yours) will be displayed beside the song.

I’ve not been let down by what I’ve heard in my Spotify Blend playlists so far. With 50 songs in each playlist, it’s been my go-to when I work and I want to have some good tracks to be my background.
