Five months after ASUS launches the ROG 5 series, the company unveils upgraded versions with the ROG Phone 5s and ROG Phone 5s Pro. These are the first ASUS phones powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus, making the company the second one to use the chip after Xiaomi launched the Mix 4.
The Snapdragon 888 Plus brings a bit of a performance boost with it operating at up to 2.995GHz compared to the Snapdragon 888’s 2.84GHz,
ASUS also lowers latency for the display at 24ms, with touch sampling getting a boost from 300Hz to 360Hz. This change should make the display more responsive. The phones still get a 6.78-inch OLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
The rest of the specs are similar to the ROG Phone 5. The standard option still gets the regular LED ROG logo, while the Pro option has the customizable dynamic matrix ROG Vision display.
