Fitbit is calling the new Charge 5 fitness tracker its “most advanced health and fitness tracker,” with a promise that it’ll be easier for you to keep track of your health and wellbeing.

This new tracker comes in a thinner, sleeker design with a brighter color touchscreen and up to seven days of battery life. The new AMOLED display brings an always-on display option to this Fitbit tracker (a first for this line), allowing you to see your stats at a glance.

The Charge 5 joins the Fitbit Sense as the first tracker to get an EDA sensor. This sensor measures your body’s response to stress through small changes in the sweat glands on your fingers. According to Fitbit, 70% of users reduced their heart rate during a two-minute EDA Scan session on the Sense, which shows it can help with stress reduction.

It also has built-in GPS, 20 exercise modes, automatic exercise recognition, and an estimate of your V02 max.

This wearable gets smart features like contactless payments, send/receive notifications, and quick replies for Android devices. To customize the Charge 5, you get 20 colorful clock faces to choose from and several different bands, including lightweight silicone infinity bands, breathable sport bands, plush nylon hook and loop bands, and hand-crafted premium Horween leather bands.

It’s not all about the hardware, though. It’s about what the software and the sensors and what they can do. The Charge 5 will get access to the Sense’s ECG app, allowing it to watch out for Atrial fibrillation (AFib) and Fitbit’s Health Metrics dashboard. There you’ll see key wellness metrics like breathing rate, skin temperature variation and SpO2.

This tracker can monitor your heart rate 24/7, help manage your stress with the Stress Management Score, and track your sleep with tools like daily Sleep Score, Sleep Stages, and SmartWake alarms.

Fitbit Premium subscribers get more in-depth data from the Health Metrics dashboard and the sleep tools. Aside from that, you can access new content from the sleep and meditation app Calm and new high-energy workouts from LES MILLS.

To help you take better advantage of these new features, Fitbit Premium is also introducing a new Daily Readiness Score. This feature will be available for Charge 5, Sense, Versa 2 and 3, Luxe, and Inspire 2.

Daily Readiness Score gives you a customized score each morning based on your fitness fatigue (activity), heart rate variability, and recent sleep. It provides an analysis of what may have impacted your score and offer suggestions about what types of exercise you should do. It will basically tell you if you should work out hard today or take some time to rest. It offers recommended Active Zone Minutes goal and Premium content that suits your condition for the day.

The Fitbit Charge 5 retails for USD 179.95 (around PHP 9,010), including six months of Fitbit Premium. Pre-orders for the Charge 5 kick-off in some markets today. In the Philippines, the Fitbit Charge 5 retails for PHP 12,490. That includes the free six-month subscription to Fitbit Premium. According to Fitbit’s website, it will ship by late September.
