How to remove unwanted followers on Twitter

Twitter has just widely rolled out a new safety feature that lets you remove followers without using the block function. The social media site started testing this feature out last month, but it is now rolling it out to all users on the web.

This move is one of the ways Twitter hopes can help reduce harassment on the platform. Instead of blocking someone, which could potentially lead to retaliation, you can quietly remove them from seeing your tweets in their feed this way.

Of course, this won’t prevent them from seeing your public tweets. The only way to keep them out is by blocking them or turning your account private. But it’s just one more method to keep unwanted followers away.

This is what you need to do to use the feature:

  1. Head to your Profile.
  2. Go to the Followers tab.
  3. Click on the three-dot menu next to the user you want to remove.
  4. Select “Remove this follower.”
