If you’re like me, you find this time of the year the most inspiring and hopeful period. My motivation is at its peak, making it easier to kick start projects and build on what’s been in the works. But what about those times when these feelings wane? Those are the moments I turn to systems and tools to help me push through or evaluate what needs to change.
When it comes to my health and fitness, sometimes I need the push. That reminder that I can only get things done in any other aspect of my life if I care for myself. That is where devices like the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 2 Lite come in handy.

This fitness smartwatch is designed to help you maintain your active lifestyle or encourage you to start that journey. And with a PHP 2,899 price tag (around USD 57 converted), the barrier for entry is on the affordable side, making it a budget-friendly investment for your health and fitness.
If you have been looking for ways to get active and need a reminder or a guide for your journey, the Redmi Watch 2 Lite can be a good partner for the ride.

A companion for different workouts
We don’t all work out with buddies or have a trainer to help us track our progress. The Redmi Watch 2 Lite can be that companion on your wrist. And before you think about whether it can keep up with you, this fitness tracker can track over 100 different workouts.
It can monitor 17 professional modes and other physical activities you engage in. Whether you run outdoors or on a treadmill, hike, run on trails, do yoga or HIIT, swim, row, rock climb, and more. No matter what you enjoy doing or what fitness goals you’re working on, this wearable can help you.

If you want to track your pool swims, the Redmi Watch 2 Lite has a 5 ATM water resistance rating, which means it is water-resistant up to 50 meters in depth for 10 minutes. It makes this suited for low-velocity, shallow-water activities. So, your pool workouts are fine. It does have an open water mode, too, but don’t take it diving. This device isn’t built for water moving with force, so don’t wear it in the shower either.
If you want to monitor your outdoor runs or hikes, this smartwatch has a high-precision GPS chip that supports the four major global positioning systems. It means you get precise positioning tracking. You can look back at the course you took and help you plan for your other workouts.
The Redmi Watch 2 Lite gives you a brief summary of the exercises and activities you do right on the watch. And you can easily see the information you need through the colorful 1.55-inch HD touch display. Compared to the Mi Watch Lite, this wearable gets a 10% increase in its screen-to-body ratio, offering you a lot more information at a glance or at least a more readable interface.

But if you need more details about these sessions, you only need to turn to the Xiaomi Wear app. And you’ll get detailed information there depending on what activity you’re doing. You can keep track of your progress and note the areas you need to improve. And if you do decide to get professional help, you can give them a detailed look at where you are, thanks to the Redmi Watch 2 Lite.
The Xiaomi Wear app syncs with Strava and Apple Health, so you can centralize your health data and make it easier to share your workout achievements with others.

Jump rope has been my favorite quick cardio activity lately, and I like that this wearable can track that complete with jumps, frequency, and height. This watch also prompts to rest between sets. It motivates me to keep going and reach the goals I’ve set for my workouts.
Keeps track of your health
Fitness trackers like the Redmi Watch 2 Lite aren’t just for keeping tabs on your workout sessions. It comes with different sensors to check in on other health data. It can measure your blood oxygen saturation level, heart rate, sleep, and even periods for the people who get their menstruation.
I am obligated to mention that this fitness band is not meant to diagnose any medical issue. It is for your personal reference and well-being. If you aren’t feeling well, you must visit a healthcare provider.

Now that we have that out of the way, you can use this smartwatch as a starting point of sorts for your health monitoring. As it keeps track of your movements, it can let you know things like if you have an unusual heart rate, what your blood oxygen levels are like while you sleep, and your sleep quality.
This health snapshot can alert you of any irregularities you can raise with your physician. Sleep tracking is something I always look for because I like knowing how my sleep went and what I can do to improve it. Plus, keeping track of it motivates me to try and maintain a sleep schedule. The Redmi Watch 2 Lite acts as a sort of accountability buddy in this respect.

Of course, enabling round-the-clock monitoring for these features impacts the battery life. Xiaomi promises up to 10 days of use, but I typically get around half of that. Four to five days is something I get from devices like the Redmi Watch 2 Lite, so it’s not that surprising or disappointing. You can disable some of these health features to help prolong the battery.
For the ladies or the people who get their periods, the Redmi Watch 2 Lite can help you stay on top of your cycle. I’m not sure if it’s because I indicated I was female when I set up the Xiaomi Wear app, but it had the Cycles section already viewable in the My Status tab. I could easily input my period history in the app to alert me on the watch or phone when my period is coming up or ovulating.

On-wrist reminder to get moving
The Redmi Watch 2 Lite isn’t just an accountability buddy for my sleep. It also reminds me to get up from my work table and move around. I’m ashamed to say I need the reminder often. But I am glad that option is available here.
Like other devices that track steps, it somehow gamifies the experience. Setting it to a watch face that shows these stats easily entices me to get off my butt and move to reach my daily goals. (Speaking of watch faces, you get over 100+ free options that you can switch to depending on your mood, outfit, or what you’re doing.)

Assists with stress management
And when things get too stressful, the Redmi Watch 2 Lite can let me know if my stress levels are something I need to manage. As mentioned in the Xiaomi Wear app, stress can help improve work and study efficiency. But too much of it can cause bodily and mental harm. Having an on-wrist reminder to try and calm down is handy.
A quick way to get my heart rate down is through breathing exercises. And yes, you have that with this wearable. You can practice slow, moderate, or fast breathing for up to five minutes. I like that the watch vibrates along to when I need to inhale or exhale so I can close my eyes and concentrate on taking calming breaths.

Final thoughts
There is no harm in asking for help, whether for work, life, or your new or ongoing health and fitness journey. And sometimes that appears in the form of a wearable gadget. The Redmi Watch 2 Lite gives you that accessible, affordable way to kick off or keep up with your active lifestyle.
The Xiaomi Redmi Watch 2 Lite is now available on Xiaomi’s Shopee and Lazada online stores. You can get it in Ivory, Black, or Blue; plus, Xiaomi offers Pink, Brown, and Olive straps for this smartwatch.
