3 things to know about the Huawei nova 9 SE

Huawei has a new phone designed just for young creatives searching for a capable camera setup on their smartphones. If you’re looking for a piece of tech to help you during the beginning of your content creation journey, Huawei wants you to check the Huawei nova 9 SE out.

These are the three things about the phone you need to know.

Photo- and vlog-ready camera setup

Huawei brings its smartphone camera know-how into the new nova 9 SE. It gets a capable 108-megapixel primary sensor paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle, a 2-megapixel bokeh lens, and a 2-megapixel macro lens.

We can see you getting a lot of use out of that main sensor, though, with its large 1/1.52-inch primary sensor, support for Huawei’s 9-in-1 pixel technology, and handy software features to capture your favorite moments or share your creative pursuits with your followers.

A couple of useful features to make your vlogs interesting include the Dual-View Video recording option, allowing you to show what’s happening around you while recording your reaction, and the Continuous Front/Rear Recording to seamlessly switch between cameras and have everything in a single file.

If you own a compatible Huawei smartwatch, you can even turn that into your remote shutter, making it easier to shoot self-portraits or group shots.

Capable midranger with a caveat

Staying true to that nova/new star aesthetic, the Huawei nova 9 SE gets a shiny starlight-like back. It comes in Crystal Blue, Pearl White, and Midnight Black. The phone is on the larger side with a 6.78-inch Full HD+ IPS display. But it pairs that with some narrow bezels to make the viewing experience an enjoyable one. The display also gets an advantage of a smoother 90Hz refresh rate.

If you prefer a more flat-edged display than one that curves, you’d want this kind of device.

Internally, the Huawei nova 9 SE gets a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which seems par for the course for its price range. Unlike the other handsets, though, this one runs on EMUI 12. There is no support for Google Play Services here.

But if you’re already invested in Huawei’s ecosystem or want to build your setup around the brand’s products, it would make it easier to get a Huawei phone. You can easily link it up to the company’s expansive range of products, including everything from laptops, smartwatches, wireless earbuds, and more.

Power up and get ready to go instantly

If you’re too impatient to wait for long charging times, Huawei brings its 66W SuperCharge tech to the nova 9 SE. It can top-up the 4,000mAh battery to 60% in just 15 minutes or up to 100% in an hour.

Huawei offers the Huawei nova 9 SE for PHP 13,999 (around USD 268 converted). It will be available for pre-order starting March 18 until March 24, 2022. When you pre-order, you get a free pair of Huawei FreeBuds 4i and Huawei Cloud benefits for a total worth of PHP 4,745 (around USD 91). It will be available from Huawei’s Online Store or through its flagship stores on Lazada and Shopee.
