If you’re unfamiliar with the Dyson Airwrap, it’s both a curler and a straightener. It uses a high-pressure motor to power the “Coanda effect.” It gently pulls hair and the air towards the surface. As Dyson describes it, the “Coanda phenomenon occurs when air, propelled at the right speed and pressure, naturally follows an adjacent surface, entraining surrounding air and with it—hair.”

It was first introduced by Dyson in 2018. Its engineers wanted to challenge themselves to find a way to “miniaturize and multiply” the Coanda effect so the device could be more versatile.

The performance improvements are welcome. But what’s probably the bigger news here is that the new attachments you can use with the new Airwrap will also be usable with the original model. You don’t have to upgrade to the new machine from a sustainability perspective and some budget-saving if you already have the Airwrap. You can just get the new attachments to help you achieve better hairstyles.

There are new Airwrap barrels that allow you to change the direction of your curls without having to switch the barrels. That was something you needed to do with the old attachments. It’s available in 30mm, 40mm, 30mm long, 40mm long, and 20mm long for different styles. (We were sent the 30mm and 40mm long barrels.)

There are also new firm and soft brushes for those who want smoother and straighter hair. And there’s a new Coanda smoothing dryer that can take your hair from wet to damp— which you’ll need when styling with the Airwrap—to then help you finish your style by hiding fly-away hairs.

You’ll also still get features and accessories like round volumizing brushes, one-click attachments with cool-touch tips for changing attachments quickly, negative ions to help reduce hair static, and the cool shot feature to set your hairstyle.

The new Dyson Airwrap multi-styler is available in the Philippines from May 26, 2022, for PHP32,900 (approximately USD 626). If you already have the Airwrap, you can upgrade your complete set with the trade-up kit. Dyson plans to announce pricing and availability soon.
