vivo has a couple of new devices under a new “turbo-driven” series, a nod to the expected performance it offers. The vivo T1 5G and T1x are the first devices for the T series. Both phones straddle the upper entry-level to mid-range segment to appeal to young gamers who are working with a tighter budget. Let’s take a quick look at each device.

vivo T1 5G

This handset is the more expensive of the two, with a PHP 16,999 (approx. USD 325) price tag. But for the pre-order schedule, you can get it at PHP 16,147 (~USD 309) over at Lazada until May 30.

The vivo T1 5G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. That chipset is the same one seen on the Samsung Galaxy A73 5G and the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE. The latter, we have some hands-on experience you can check out here.

The 4,700mAh battery might seem a bit smaller than your typical gaming-centric smartphone. But vivo makes up for that with 66W charging support. If you’re wondering about the cameras you get with this handset, the vivo T1 5G has a 64-megapixel primary camera paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide shooter and a 2-megapixel macro option. There is a 16-megapixel selfie camera placed on a waterdrop notch in front.

The vivo T1 5G’s display is a 6.44-inch AMOLED FHD+ screen with an HDR10+ certification and 90Hz refresh rate. vivo offers the T1 5G in Turbo Black and Turbo Cyan.

vivo T1x

If you have a tighter budget, vivo is offering the T1x. This handset runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. That chipset powers devices like the Samsung Galaxy A23, Huawei nova 9 SE, and vivo’s own Y21T, another gaming device from vivo’s Y series.

The vivo T1x has a bigger 6.58-inch FHD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It also gets the larger 5,000mAh battery, but this one only supports 18W USB-C charging. Like the vivo T1 5G, it runs on the Android 12-based Funtouch OS 12.

Its camera setup includes a 50-megapixel triple camera array (with 2-megapixel portrait and macro sensors) and an 8-megapixel front camera. vivo sells the T1x for PHP 8,999 (~USD 172), but you can get it for PHP 8,547 (~USD 163) during the same pre-order period as the T1 5G but this one is a Shopee-exclusive. It comes in Space Blue and Gravity Black.

If you get either handset through vivo’s website, you can get the T1 5G for PHP 15,999 and the T1x for PHP 8,499. vivo hasn’t specified when this special rate will apply, but we’ll make sure to update this story when we hear back from them.

But if you’re pre-ordering through Shopee and Lazada, your pre-order will come with freebies like Baseus earphones and power banks.

vivo will also be giving away free discount vouchers, mobile accessories, and one (1) vivo smartphone during the vivo T Series Launch Livestream on TikTok Live, Shopee, and Facebook on May 30, 6:00-7:00 PM.
