Like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, refinement and polish are at the center of what Samsung’s trying to do with the Galaxy Z Fold4. The large-format foldable might not look different than the Galaxy Z Fold3, but it gets improved multitasking and performance.
The cover screen on this book-style foldable is now wider than its predecessor, bringing it closer to regular non-folding phone displays when closed. It’s still a 6.2-inch HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 2,316 x 904 resolution, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and 23.1:9 aspect ratio. It’s still not as wide as standard phones, but at least your apps will look less weird on them.

The Galaxy Z Fold4 ‘s inner screen is a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 2,176 x 1,812 resolution, 21.6:18 aspect ratio, and 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. This inner display offers more usability in different settings. In Flex mode, where you can split an app between the top and bottom portions, you can now turn the bottom half into a trackpad as you would a touchpad on a laptop.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 takes advantage of the large display with Android 12L, the operating system’s version optimized for devices like tablets and foldables. There’s a new taskbar on one side that resembles the taskbar you’ll see on PCs.

Samsung leverages its partnerships with Google and Microsoft to improve the experience on the Galaxy Z Fold4. Apps like Google Chrome and Gmail now support drag-and-drop, making it easy to copy and paste links, photos, and others quickly. You can do things on Google Meet like co-watch YouTube videos or play games with someone else. Microsoft apps should get more optimized on this device, too. Of course, you can also use the S Pen with the Fold.
You can expect improved durability with the Galaxy Z Fold4, too. Its outside is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Plus and Armor Aluminum frames, while the inner display is 45% more durable. It’s also rated for IPX8 for water resistance.

The cameras on the Galaxy Z Fold4 get upgraded as well. It has a triple camera system that includes a 50-megapixel main sensor, 12-megapixel ultra-wide, and 10-megapixel telephoto. That telephoto lens has optical zoom support up to 3x and a digital zoom of up to 30x. Like the Galaxy Z Flip4, it has improved low-light photography, too. According to Samsung, this 10-megapixel under-display camera is less noticeable than the camera on the Galaxy Z Fold3.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 paired with 12GB of RAM, 256GB/512GB/1TB storage, and a 4,400mAh dual battery with 25W fast-charging support. That should get you up to 50% in 30 minutes.
