In case you missed the announcement, it’s now possible to use your Maya wallet in establishments that support GCash. But you’ll need to see the QR Ph logo in the middle of the QR code.
That logo sports the blue, red, and yellow design, which you can see in the promo material below. This new feature allows Maya and GCash customers to pay for their purchases in stores that support either e-wallet without extra charge.

Enter a store with only GCash supported? If you see the QR Ph logo, you can still scan the QR code with your Maya wallet. The same goes for stores that support Maya’s payment system while you only have a GCash account.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) developed the QR Ph as an interoperable, standard QR code that can be scanned and interpreted by participating banks and non-bank e-money institutions to facilitate customers’ requests to fund transfers and payments. It can be used for digital person-to-person transactions or person-to-merchant payments through InstaPay. That latter is what we’re talking about with this new development.
As someone who uses Maya primarily as her digital wallet, I definitely welcome this change. What do you think of this update? Let us know!
