POCO M5, M5s: Key features you need to know

A couple of affordable POCO devices have just debuted. The POCO M5 and M5s are geared more toward those who love to consume content or play games on their devices.

Let’s take a quick look at what differentiates the two devices.

POCO M5: Gaming-ready with a dynamic display

The POCO M5 runs on the recently-released 4G chip, the MediaTek Helio G99. It gets POCO’s Game Turbo 5.0 tech, which promises to intelligently optimize the CPU, GPU, and memory on this handset for stable gameplay. High frame rate games should be more enjoyable to play here with its 6.58-inch Full HD+ DotDrop display with a 90H refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate.

Playing on the POCO M5

If you want to use it to capture your favorite moments, the POCO M5 gets a 50-megapixel primary lens paired with 2-megapixel depth and macro sensors. The front sports a 5-megapixel selfie camera. It keeps you running throughout the day with a 5,000mAh high-capacity battery with 18W fast charging.

The POCO M5 will come in three colors: BlackGreen, and Yellow. In the Philippines, it will also be available in two variants:

  • 4GB + 64GB: PHP 9,499 (around USD 167) or an early bird price of PHP 7,399 (~USD 130)
  • 6GB + 128GB: PHP 10,499 (~USD 184) or an early bird price of PHP 8,799 (~USD 154)

POCO M5s: Built for consumption and creation

Now, if content consumption and creation are more your speed, POCO offers the M5s. This handset’s 64-megapixel quad camera array supports up to 4K at 30 frames per second recording. That main lens joins an 8-megapixel ultra-wide and two 2-megapixel depth and macro sensors. In front, there’s a 13-megapixel front camera. The POCO M5s benefits from a suite of photo and video features we’ve come to enjoy from POCO devices.

This handset gets a 6.43-inch Full HD+ AMOLED DotDisplay paired with dual speakers, perfect for those binge-watching sessions. It runs on a MediaTek Helio G95, which we’ve seen on photo-centric budget phones. The POCO M5s also gets a 5,000mAh battery but has faster 33W charging support.

Meanwhile, the POCO M5s will come in three colors: GrayWhite, and Blue. And it also gets two configurations:
