After teasing its launch, the HONOR Magic Vs is now official. It sports a design similar to the original Magic V with an inward-folding design. But the company claims it is now the lightest foldable smartphone out in the market. It comes in at 12.9mm thin when folded and weighs 261g.
The HONOR Magic Vs’ new hinge
The HONOR Magic Vs also gets a symmetrical and seamless design paired with a new simplified yet sophisticated hinge. Its gearless hinge has been carefully crafted using a single-piece casting process that drastically reduced the number of components from 92 to 4. But it retains its durability since it’s built with aerospace-grade materials. HONOR says the Magic Vs can withstand over 400,000 folds in its lifetime and promises this device folds without gap and has a creaseless display when unfolded.
More screens to use
The magic (pardon the pun) with foldables like these is you get tons of screens to work with. When folded, the HONOR Magic Vs has a 6.45-inch display with a more typical 21:9 aspect ratio and 90% screen-to-body ratio. When unfolded, the Magic Vs gives you that tablet experience with its 7.9-inch screen.
This device supports display tech like a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut for true-to-life colors, up to 120Hz refresh rate, Dynamic Dimming to adjust brightness, and a Circadian Night Display to minimize the effects of blue light. It gets stylus support, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold devices.
Computational photography updates
HONOR packs in a respectable triple-camera system, including a 54-megapixel IMX800 main camera, 50-megapixel ultra-wide and macro sensor, and 8-megapixel 3x optical zoom lens. There are also 16-megapixel selfie cameras on either display.
The company then arms this phone with its proprietary AI-enabled HONOR Image Engine, which it boasts of having best-in-class computational photography capabilities.
