Modern-day smartphones are typically fragile pieces of tech unless they’ve been built specifically to work in tough environments. HONOR is doing something we don’t see often in the midrange space with the HONOR X9a 5G. They launched a new phone with “deeply reinforced glass,” meaning it can handle a few more drops than your conventional phone.

We’ve seen it dropped, used to smash random ingredients, and even get run over by a car. And its 6.67-inch AMOLED curved display could handle most of the abuse. Your real-life use might not be that extreme, but at least you know a simple drop should be okay. It’s a clumsy person’s best device to have.

On top of that, the HONOR X9a 5G is still a decent midranger. That display supports a 120Hz refresh rate and 300Hz touch sampling rate. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G chipset with Android 12-based MagicUI 6.1 skin, 8GB of RAM plus 5GB of virtual RAM, and 256GB of storage.

The phone is also pretty sleek and thin and comes in elegant Emerald Green and Titanium Silver. It’s the kind of device you’d want to show off. The distinctive Matrix Star Ring design for its camera makes it easily distinguishable.

The HONOR X9a 5G has a triple rear camera array, including a 64-megapixel primary sensor, 5-megapixel wide, and 2-megapixel macro camera. In front, there’s a 16-megapixel selfie shooter.

If you’re a bit insecure about battery life, HONOR ensures that this phone offers a two-day battery life with its 5,100mAh battery. And you can quickly top it up with its 40W SuperCharge support.

The HONOR X9a 5G is available for PHP 16,990 (around USD 310). The Philippine pre-order period is from January 20 to February 3. You get a free pair of HONOR Earbuds X3 Lite worth PHP 3,999 (~USD 75). It is available at all HONOR kiosks and partner stores nationwide or via Lazada, Shopee, Tiktok Shop, and Home Credit.
