Dyson 360 Vis Nav: A see-it-all robot vacuum

Dyson has launched its latest innovation in robotic vacuum cleaners, the Dyson 360 Vis Nav, which claims to have six times the suction power of any other robot vacuum on the market.

A smarter robot

The Dyson 360 Vis Nav is designed to intelligently map and clean your home. It uses a 360-degree vision system with a fish-eye hemispheric lens, 26 sensors, and Simultaneous Localization and Mapping technology. The robot can remember where it has been, see where to clean next, and create dust maps of your home to show you how thoroughly it cleaned.

Its system allows it to pinpoint its position to within 71mm and navigate around obstacles and walls. It can also detect the edges of a room and redirect suction through a side actuator for precise edge cleaning. There is no mopping or self-emptying here, but we hope that changes in future models.

This vacuum also has a dual-link suspension system that enables it to climb up to 21mm. And its low profile lets it clean under furniture up to 99mm.

New tools

The robot vacuum features a new full-width triple-action brush bar to tackle hard floors. It also has soft “Fluffy” nylon bristles for large debris, anti-static carbon fiber filaments for fine dust, and stiff nylon bristles for carpets.

The robot has a battery life of up to 50 minutes and will automatically return to its dock to recharge when needed. You can monitor and control the robot vacuum via the MyDyson app, which provides deep cleaning reports after each clean.

Dyson hasn’t revealed the pricing and availability for the Dyson 360 Vis Nav, but we’ll make sure to update you when we hear from the company.

It’s a back-to-back Dyson feature for Cool Tech of the Week, but we couldn’t resist. Let us know what other fascinating tech or gadgets you’d want us to feature!
