When I think about taking a phone with me on a trip, there are a few things I consider before making that choice. I need a phone that can keep up with me as I travel. And the HONOR 90 5G is making a case for this spot. There are four things about it that make it an ideal travel companion for capturing moments and keeping me entertained and connected as I go.
High-quality cameras for capturing precious memories
One of the hero features of the HONOR 90 5G is its main camera. This phone packs in a 200-megapixel primary shooter with a large 1/1.4-inch sensor. You won’t get 200-megapixel photos out of the camera. Instead, you get 12-megapixel shots that have been pixel-binned so you get more details no matter what time of the day you shoot. It comes in especially handy in low light. So if you’re exploring caves or going out at night to see the sights, this camera should be able to capture those moments for you.
If you want to take flattering portraits while you’re out on your adventures, the HONOR 90 5G now supports 2x zoom for portraits. If you want to get closer to your subject, you use this option. Or you can use the background for a bit more ambiance and shoot in 1x. This smartphone also gets a bit of help from the 2-megapixel depth camera it comes with. That sensor should help you achieve a clean background and subject separation or that bokeh effect.
Now, if you want to capture vast landscapes or get closer, the HONOR 90 5G has a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera that also serves as your macro cam. And if you want to take quick, easy selfies, this device has a pretty decent 50-megapixel selfie camera, too.
‘Instant Movies’ with the HONOR 90 5G
Another great thing about the HONOR 90 5G’s setup is it makes it easier to record videos on the fly. You don’t have to be a content creator or professional videographer to get started on this device.
If you want to make vlogs of your travels, this device uses artificial intelligence to help you out. It has what HONOR calls an AI vlog assistant, which speeds up the video production process. When you record clips, it can analyze the key details in real time and make social media-ready edits for you. You just need to tap on the Instant Movie option in the phone’s Gallery app.
There are also built-in vlog templates you can use to make it easier to get shareable videos. Shoot clips throughout your trip and let this feature handle the editing for you. These templates are accessible through the Multi-Video mode. You can spot this among the settings at the top. It’s a video camera with a play button in the middle.
The HONOR 90 5G also inherits the company’s Solo Cut feature. This option allows you to record a full scene and a specific subject in that scene at the same time, helping you achieve that multi-camera effect. If you find yourself watching a show and want to capture a specific subject, this feature helps you out. You can access this option in the Video mode. It’s the icon on the top left that looks like a layered window with a tracking icon.
This smartphone also uses AI to clean up and reduce noise in your videos. It’s something I still need to see in action though. But that’s definitely a handy feature to have in your arsenal.
You can record 4K videos with the rear and front cameras on this device. And that’s always nice to see, particularly that selfie camera option. If you want to vlog, that 4K resolution can definitely help you get better quality videos without having to rely on the rear camera of this phone. Pair that with this device’s ability to filter out background noise and you get publishable vlogs in an instant.

Armed with a 6.7-inch AMOLED curved display, the HONOR 90 5G is made to be an entertainment lover’s device. It supports features like HDR 10+, Amazon Prime Video and Netflix HDR certification, and a 120Hz refresh rate, which helps make your viewing or gaming experience enjoyable.
It should also be kinder to the eyes (even if you probably should reduce that screen time, if you’re worried about this). The HONOR 90 5G offers 3840Hz PWM dimming, which helps minimize strain on your peepers. This phone’s screen has also been certified by TÜV Rheinland for its flicker-free display If this is where you’ll watch your favorite content, shows, or movies while you travel, this little assurance is definitely nice to have.
With large storage capacities (up to 512GB), you can store or download all the content and music you want. That’s definitely something I did when I took this phone with me out of town. I haven’t had to deal with any issues as I took Spotify’s AI DJ for a spin or when I watched all the seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Netflix. Unsurprisingly, it could handle my new favorite cozy game called Little Corner Tea House.
The HONOR 90 5G runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor paired with up to 12GB of RAM and runs on MagicOS 7.1. And I’ve gotten some pretty good mileage out of this smartphone. I typically get around a day and a half’s use out of this handset. But that’s with social media and entertainment apps on and connected to Wi-Fi.
Its 5,000mAh battery holds up. And with 66W SuperCharge support, it takes me under an hour to fully charge this phone. When you’re moving from one place to another, you’d want that fast-charging capability.
Match your HONOR 90 5G with your fit
I appreciate substance over style, but I’m definitely more of a style and substance kind of person. But HONOR seems to understand that when they made the HONOR 90 5G. This phone comes in Diamond Silver, Peacock Blue, Midnight Black, and Emerald Green. I was lent the classy Emerald Green option that has this smooth, frosty finish. I’m more partial to the shine of the Diamond Silver, but I also like the understated look of the phone I have.
And I gotta admit that the green matches a lot more of my outfits than the silver. If you’re the type who has a specific palette you tend to use for everything, the HONOR 90 5G has options for you. If you color coordinate your vacation outfit, why don’t you include your phone in that decision, too?
