So you know what to expect with the OnePlus 12 series, now let’s get a quick peek at what the phones look like. Here’s our first look at the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R!
There are four colors between the two phones. The OnePlus 12 comes in Flowy Emerald and Silky Black, while the OnePlus 12R comes in Cool Blue and Iron Gray. It’s good to see dark and lighter options on these phones.
The Cool Blue on the OnePlus 12R certainly lives up to its name with this nice, shiny finish. And yes, from the looks of it, that sheen would pick up smudges easily.
But we love this marble-like finish on the OnePlus 12’s Flowy Emerald. It takes up the entire back of the phone beyond the distinctive camera module.
OnePlus takes inspiration from luxury watches for its camera design. It has the same high-end machined aluminum casing, a plate on top of the cameras, and a special laser engraving for the markings on the outer plate. With a Gorilla Glass cover, it completes this watch-like look to the module.
Now, if we check out the profile of the phones, the one difference is the new position of the Alert Slider. The OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R have this toggle on the left side now instead of the right. According to the company, this allowed them to switch out the position of the antennas and improve the phone’s performance in landscape orientation. It also means it’s easily accessible if you want to change your sound profile while playing games or watching content.
The OnePlus 12 looks like it has a more premium finish over the OnePlus 12R. But since they share a design language, you aren’t shortchanged if you get the more affordable option. Whether you like that distinctive camera module or not, it at least gives these OnePlus flagships a distinctive look. And that might be what you’re looking for from your phones.
