OPPO Air Glass 3 reimagines design and introduces AI assistant

The OPPO Air Glass 3 prototype takes a significant leap forward. It adopts changes to its design and capabilities. The most significant are the lighter design and the new AI voice assistant.

OPPO Air Glass 3’s AI advancements

The Air Glass 3 boasts voice assistant capabilities powered by its advanced AndesGPT model. This AI model—comparable to ChatGPT—can process various data formats like images, text, and audio. Like other AI assistants, it allows users to ask questions and conduct searches. However, it requires compatible OPPO phones to work its AI magic.

Currently, the Air Glass 3 is only compatible with OPPO phones running ColorOS 13 or later, suggesting exclusivity to OPPO’s ecosystem.

Future iterations of this device could offer exciting features like live language translation and health data visualization.

Effortless control and crystal-clear display

Unlike previous bulky iterations, the Air Glass 3 boasts a lightweight and stylish design. It weighs 50g and looks virtually indistinguishable from regular glasses.

You control the glasses through intuitive touch swipes on the side arm. Once on, the glasses can project information directly onto your field of view. These visuals should be vibrant and clear thanks to the device’s peak brightness of over 1,000 nits.

OPPO claims the Air Glass 3 uses a newly developed resin waveguide that minimizes the “rainbow effect” often seen in smart glasses when light refracts as it passes through. This waveguide technology—crucial for displaying virtual images—promises improved color accuracy and clarity.

Looking ahead

Although the Air Glass 3 is currently a China-exclusive prototype, its innovative design and features offer a glimpse into the future of smart glasses.

These glasses could be discreet and practical tools for everyday tasks like translations, navigation, and communication. We can’t wait to see what comes next.
